Walking Can Increase Longevity

On the Health Watch, now there’s, growing evidence that your gut microbiome, the bacteria and other organisms, organisms that live inside you can affect your weight. Your immune system, even your risk of disease and a new study, says that stress can be as bad for your gut as junk food.

Researchers found that mice who were exposed to stress had gut bacteria that resembled those of mice. There were fed a high-fat diet, so dr. Mallika Marshall is here, and it seems clear now that what you have what you eat affects you, but stress affects you as well.

That’s right and most of us get stressed out from time to time. A little bit some people get more stressed out than others, and we know that it can affect your mental health right. It increases your risk of anxiety and depression, but now we have additional evidence that it can take a toll on your physical health as well.

Now the effects were only seen in female mice, so there appears to be some sort of gender discrepancy, at least in mice, on how our guts respond to stress, so that’s, something we’ll have to look at more in humans.

All right: how about this walking your way to a longer life? A new study, looking at almost 140,000 older adults, found that less than two hours a week of walking may reduce the risk of death. Two and a half to five hours a week of walking, could reduce mortality by a whopping amount. Use an activity band for motivation. It works for me.

20 percent benefits were seen from all causes of death, but most notably from lung disease, heart disease and cancer. Now this isn’t jogging. This isn’t running. This is walking. This is plain old, walk at a decent clip.

Okay right, you can’t saunter, but it’s generally recommended that adults get anywhere from a hip 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise a week and only about half of American adults are actually getting that.

I think a lot of people find that daunting yeah, so based on these recommendations, it says: look if you can even get out and walk for up to two hours a week. You are doing something good for your health and people.

Some people call it the perfect exercise because it’s Free and you don’t need any equipment. It’s generally easy to do and people can do it at any age. So we’re really into it with, you know, the bracelet, so you and keep track.

Just get off the couch and do it.

Fitbit Charge 4

I haven’t used this Fitbit. I have the Inspire HR and it has all the options I need. It’s really depends on the individual . Check out the options and make your decision. What might be great for me, may not fit your needs.

The Fitbit Charge 4 has a new item inside, a GPS has been added. Also as of this writing, a new Fitbit Charge 4 Special Edition is available but the only difference I noted was that more bands are added, nothing else.

My Fitbit Inspire has Auto Exercise Recognition

I’m keeping track of my days actually exercising with help from my Fitbit. It’s Sunday and I have walked my first day of 5 days I plan to walk. I set up a plan to walk 5 days a week but usually walk more. That does have much to do with the weather and New England this time of year is usually good walking weather, right before Halloween. October here is a great month for walking. Winter in New England is another story all together. Time to purchase a treadmill.

I weighted in at 125 today. That’s a good weight for me even though I’m only 5’2″ in height. Some of that weight must be muscle weight because my over all appearance looks ok, not skinny, not cubby. In fact, I think I need a little more muscle for definition but when it comes to weight lifting, I’m lazy… can’t get into it but will try harder this coming week.

My body fat percentage is 23%…great numbers for me. The Fitbit Inspire calculates that also when I add my weight. Now the Fitbit can be worn for general fitness or to lose weight. I do report mostly on weight loss because that is the reason I wear it. Healthy is great but being healthy and the proper weight for my body type and height is even better. You could say I want both. The Fitbit Inspire, really all wearable weight loss bands track both.

Fitbit Inspire HR

All you have to do is choose your color, you can go black or lilac ( I chose the lilac) and everybody’s going to get an extra white band so after you choose your color just decide, do you want the small or do you want the large.

The fitbit inspire HR with the heart rate is sleek and feminine. This is a benefit when you don’t want a big bulky timepiece. Yeah, it disappears on your wrist. I forget I’m wearing it. It’s just that light. 7 ounces and then half of an inch wide so it’s really easy to wear and fashion forward.

The fitbit inspire HR is the fitbit I have so this info comes from a person who wears it everyday and to bed. It is a great fitness tracker, not just to lose weight. It has become my buddy and I just love her. I purchased it from Walmart and is a completely feature packed so this does everything.

Tattletale on my Wrist

My fitbit Inspire HR is my timepiece so it shows time and date right there. You can swipe right up and see all of the activities that you’ve done during the course of the day because this helps hold you accountable. My tattletale on my wrist.

Fitbit HR Exercise and Activity Tracker

There are watch faces that you can change, you can totally change your clock face and are able to swipe up and it’s going to show you how many steps you’ve taken during the course of the day. You have these really great hourly goals too. When home and more sedentary than usual, little hourly reminders are sent to get you off your butt and start moving. This helps me because I tend to lose track of time when I’m on the computer and need to be reminded to get up and move. My fitbit inspire HR has the built-in heart rate and shows the resting heart rate. Although my main reason for using a fitness tracker is for weight loss, it’s huge to be able to check the dashboard which sticks with your phone so you can look back at weeks and weeks of history. This shows you your active minutes, your distance traveled, your calories burned all on your wrist. It also shows you those hourly reminders so your goal is 250 steps an hour, to try to get up and do it.

Wearable Weight Loss

It shows your active days of the week. Now don’t get obsessed. This wearable weight loss tracker is just a reminder. Try to keep it fun. I tell myself, just do the best you can. No pressure. I don’t know about you, but I need to be reminded to get up from this computer and move the body. But sometimes I just can’t and that’s ok.

Sleep Option

I really like the sleep option. I never slept well. I wake up at night for some reason. But that is the reason I usually worked the night shift. But even when I got home, after working all night, I could only sleep a few hours and I wake up. I set my fitbit inspire HR option for 7 hours. I’ve reached my goal about 2 times since I started with my fitbit. The fitbit also shows how long I was in rem sleep, light sleep, and deep sleep. I think I will always be nocturnal . Some people just are. But sleep is so important to being a desirable weight.

My Fitbit Inspire HR with 24/7 Heart Rate Tracking. I Love It!
